Dennis & Alan are a Prize Pair of Portugal Winners at Logan Leisure Golf Day

Both Dennis Calderwood and Alan Bankier will be jetting off on fabulous golf trips to the 5* Marriott Praia Del Ray Golf & Beach Resort as result of their top tee shots on the 8th at Stirling Golf Club. The prize pair scored a hole in one within hours of each other whilst playing on the annual Logan Leisure Golf Day, now in it’s 17th year.

Dennis, who is an 18 handicapper from Dunblane in Pertshire said on his win’ the hole is 180 yards uphill, you can only see the front edge of the green & the top of the pin from the tee. I was third in line in my team to take a shot, mine was very good, even if I say it myself! I used my 4-wood rescue club, the ball pitched at the very front of the green. When we approached the green we could only see 3 golf balls, after a while with no sign of my ball, one of partners checked the hole. To my great enjoyment I heard the words..’’it’s here, it’s in the hole!!’’

Their amazing prizes were on offer as part of the insured prize package from Worldwide Hole ‘N One & kindly sponsored by Action, Lawn & Leisure who have been supporting Ally Logan’s amazing fundraising work for many years. This year, the 17th since Ally set up Logan Leisure Ltd to launch his fundraising work was one of the most memorable yet.

Not only were the pair of hole in one’s an amazing achievement and against the odds, the funds collected will bring the overall total raised by Ally for Scottish local charities to over £107,000, an astounding achievement.

Ally, who runs a sheep & cattle auction business started fundraising in support of Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow who looked after his daughter over a period of 5 difficult years when she was in & out of the hospital due to illness. Other charities that have benefited from Ally’s commitment to fundraising are Strathcarron Hospice & Stirling Hospital Children’s ward.

So committed to the causes that Ally fundraises for on his golf days are the players, that one last year, after getting a hole in one & winning a golf trip prize, decided to give holiday back to the charity. Ally then auctioned the kind donation which raised an additional £600 – amazing.

Offering prizes can open up so many avenues for events & this is a true example of how lady luck shines down on those who perhaps are the most deserving. Well done Ally & congratulations to Dennis & Alan, enjoy Portugal!
